As a former woven textile designer, it is not surprising that I focus my attention on the rich variety of colours, textures and patterns that North Devon has to offer. The coast in particular, has a great attraction for me. The sea, the estuary, rocks, pebbles, sand and the life that survives in this harsh, tidal environment, provide a continuing source of images. Filling the frame, removing the subject from its context and any indication of scale achieves the desired effect of leaving a design or an abstract. Challenging the viewer's imagination is all part of the fun.
